Before testing

Define the purpose and the sample point.

A result is only as useful as the sample and the question it is intended to answer. Testing fuel from an irrelevant or contaminated point can create false confidence or unnecessary alarm.

  • Identify the fuel grade and source
  • Choose a representative sampling point
  • Use clean, compatible sampling equipment
  • Record temperature where density is measured
  • Avoid cross-contamination between samples
  • Retain a reference sample when disputes are possible

Field screening is not laboratory certification

FuelGuard products are designed to support operational screening, early detection and evidence collection. Where legal, insurance, contractual or technical certainty is required, use an accredited laboratory and the appropriate chain-of-custody procedure.

Control ignition sources

Work in ventilation

Avoid inhalation and perform petrol-related procedures only in a suitable ventilated environment.

Label, store, transport and dispose of fuel samples according to applicable requirements.
